Class of 2012

Troy's preschool graduation was Monday. I, of course squalled my eyes out....partially because he was crying, too. I think he was embarrassed by being in front of all those people.

He didn't want to sing the songs, which is so unlike my sweet T-roy.

He started to reluctantly get into the Bear Hunt.
The only time he smiled during the whole program.

 Working up his cry.

He finally broke down....and that's when I did, too. It didn't help that they played their slideshow next.

 Waiting to receive his "dipoloma"

My big boy is now a preschool graduate!

Presenting the pre-k class of 2012!

Miss Kim tried her hardest to get him to smile. He finally agreed to smile for me if I would let him take his t-shirt off.

We are going to miss Miss Kim and Miss Lori! We love them! But it will be three years before......

....this one is ready for pre-k!

Ok, She thinks she is ready right now. We are going to miss being at preschool after being there for the past almost 4 years! We may have to make some visits to see our favorite teachers. ;)

Troy's Pumpkin Patch Trip

Ok, yall. I promise I will eventually get my computer fixed asks do a real blog post. Until then, however, you will just have to bear with me and my droid posts.

A couple weeks ago, Troy's class went to the pumpkin patch and Audrey and I got to go with him. :) We all had a lot of fun! Petting bunnies, playing in corn, playing on the playground taking a hayride, and picking the perfect pumpkin! Then I got some pretty pictures of them in a cotton field. :)

Mommy's Helper

Audrey has such a good big brother! (well, she actually has two, of course, but this post is about one in particular.) Troy loves his sissy. Ty does, too, but he's not as into helping take care of her as Troy is. Just now he was trying to help me put a new outfit on her since she soaked the last one. He actually did a pretty good job for a 4 year old battling a reluctant 14 month old. :) I only had to help him get her still to pull it over her head and then do the buttons (he can actually fasten buttons, but she was trying to run away. Lol)

(and forgive the pictures being in reverse order. Lol)

Say Wha? v. 2

Troy: "o-r-a-n-g-e, that's what orange spells."

Ty: "what's buried?"
Troy: "like when you bury up a cow"

Our babysitter who goes to church with us asked Troy how much halloween candy he got. He said, "about a million."

Jeremy had his gallbladder out Wednesday. Same girl asked Troy why Jeremy and I weren't at church Wednesday night
Troy: "daddy's got holes in his stomach"
Amy: "did you put your finger in them?"
Troy: "no, they're not big enough"

Ty: "We did cheers in the gym today."
Me: "did you holler loud?"
Ty: "Everybody else did. I plugged my ears."

Say Wha?

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. If that is so, my friend Deanna at Delirious Rhapsody should be feeling pretty good right now. She does a weekly deal called Gage says, where she relates all the hilarious things her son says and does. This kid is something else. You should really check it out! Anyway. I have decided to do the same, if for no other reason to have a record of how my kids crack me up for myself. For example:

When I was pregnant with Audrey, Troy told me, "you need to stop eating so much. Baby sissy is getting too big."

Ty: Milk looks like lightning.
Me: How are milk and lightning the same?
Ty: They are both white. Milk is white, and when a storm comes, lightning is white.

Ty calls the video "Mater's Tall Tales," "Mater the Tattle Tales"

(about a year ago) After Troy asked for his third thing to ready one morning, I asked him if he was growing. He got very sad and said, "no." I said, "you must be, the way you are eating!" To which he answered, "I'm trying, but I just keep peepeeing and poopooing!"

We passed a house where they had made a huge scarecrow out of round hay bales. Troy said, "Ty! Look! Look at that big hay snowman!"

And Audrey is at the point where it is funny to just say, "Moma! Moma! Moma!" Over and over.

Ok, so you may not think my kids are as silly as I think they are, but they come up with crazy stuff!

Fire Safety Day

Today was Fire Safety Day at preschool. three of the firefighters from Guntersville came out and had mini-classes for the kids and the parents, and then the kids got to check out the fire truck! They all loved it, of course, and hopefully learned something about fire safety, too. Big thanks to all our Firefighters for what they do!

Homecoming

Friday night was Douglas's homecoming game. They also had a parade Friday afternoon. They didn't win the game, but my kids had a blast! (and here's a shameless pat on the back, I made their outfits!)

For Hannah

Hannah its going to have a come apart if I don't post something, so here is a picture of the kiddos from the homecoming game tonight. Aren't they adorable? Those outfits gave me fits like you wouldn't believe, though!
I'm still going to post about the camping trip...eventually.
Fiddler's tomorrow! Whoo-hooo!

We Love Our Football

I got so tickled at Troy describing football that I just had to share it. (For any of you non-sports fans, he is referring to Alabama and Auburn.) Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Lol

School Beginnings

I am a bad mom. I blogged about Ty's first day of school, but not Troy's. Just don't tell him. Shhhh.
Troy had a great first day of preschool last Wednesday! No crying! When I picked him up, Lori said he did great and he was so excited to tell me what all he had done. :) That makes a moma happy.
Now, two weeks in, both boys are doing well. They are both happy...except for having to get up so early, which I'm not wild about either. ;) Getting up and having to get 3 kids ready to leave before 7 is for the birds. Lol. Our only problem is Ty isn't wanting to do his work at school. He is coming home with papers that haven't got the first pencil mark on them. Jeremy asked him why he didn't do his work, and he said "I just didn't want to." Any suggestions??

Shuffling

...Priorities, that is.

Jeremy taught the boys' Bible class at church last night since their regular teacher is on vacation. He told me this morning that they couldn't answer any of the questions about God's first people (Adam and Eve). I was floored. We have gone over this. We have talked about this. I know that once upon a time they knew this. So how could they remember their memory verses from a year ago, and not remember this?

Maybe I have been a little lax lately in my Bible instruction with them. I know that their spiritual training should be top priority, and I want it to be. I know it is just an excuse, but it just seems like it is so hard sometimes, when there is so much going on. Especially when our regular schwedule relaxes so much in the summer time, and Jeremy is working longer hours, and yada yada. I know. Excuses.

But I have decided things are going to be different. Less tv watching. More time together spent talking about God. We used to do this. I'm not sure where we got off track, but I am going to make it happen again. This is about to be a different home. A different mom, in more ways than one. I actually had a dream last night about how I was a terrible mommy. I know, a little irrational, but it's kinda the way I have been feeling lately.

Man, when did I become such a Debbie Downer??

A little bit of funny to lighten up the post....Audrey has started shaking her head "no." If she is doing something she doesn't need to be, I say, "Audrey" and she looks at me, and I say "no, no." Then she grins and shakes her head and goes ahead and does it anyway. Lol. It's a learning process, right? :)

Proverbs 22:6  "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Update 7/19/11: I feel better now...we talked about the story and they could answer nearly every question I asked them. Whew! I don't feel like such a slacker mom now.

The Big One

Troy had his 4 year check up yesterday with Dr. P. You know, 4 year visit is THE BIG ONE. Where he had to get his shots to be able to start school (I still can't believe he starts preschool this year!) But it went better than I expected. Troy is my dramatic child. Everything seems 10 times better or worse than it actually is. So we get to the dr. (and I hadn't told him yet he was going to be getting shots). He does great getting weighed and measured (he was 36 lbs and 47 inches tall!), and even getting his blood pressure taken. Dr. P. comes in and checks him out and says everything looks great. When Dr. P. goes out, I explain to Troy that he is going to have to get a few shots. I tell him what is going on and why he has to get them. He asks will it hurt, and I say it will for a little while, but then it will stop. He seems fine with it. The nurse comes in and he hops up on the exam table all by himself, lays down, and puts his arms back behind his head, in a reclined, relaxed position....then she gives him the first shot. She did the worst one first, to get it over with. He did fine with the stick, but when she started putting the medicine in, he started screaming. Oh, the hard parts about being a mommy. It seems almost easier when they are babies, because they don't seem to remember it, and they get over it pretty quickly. But by the time they are 4, they know what is going on, and they (esp. our beloved strong-willed, fighters) know how to respond to it! He pulled his arms down, and bless his heart, tried not to grab at her, but just couldn't help it. I had to hold his arms back (with the arm that wasn't holding Audrey), but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, since he is a fighter and usually to hold him down I have to put my whole body into it. She gave him his other two shots, and stuck his bandaids on. I set him down off the table, and he started jumping up and down with both feet, screaming. I know it was burning, poor baby. I just wish he could cry without screaming bloody murder. We then walked hopped down to the lab to have his finger pricked, where he was still screaming, and screamed/hopped into the bathroom to get his urine sample. This is where he finally started to calm down, since he couldn't pee until he relaxed a little. After that, all was well, for the most part.  I was actually very nervous about taking him and Audrey by myself (Ty was at a little kindergarten camp), and having to hold them both, but all in all, it went much better than I would ever have thought possible. We drove back to Snead to get a happy meal, and he was good to go by then, having had a little nap in the car.

If you don't have a dramatic child, you are missing out on some interesting times. ;) I love my little T-roy.

Party!!

We had Troy's 4th birthday party Saturday. Since most of you didn't get to be there, I thought I would let you in on the fun! ;)

The birthday cake....That's another post in itself.....

Troy loved his cake with the Justice League theme (and his shirt to match!)

Excited about his new kiddie pool!

Opening presents

He is so silly.

Being a good host and handing out goody bags.

Enjoying the new pool!

(My) Grandeddy and Audrey

Snuggling with his "stuff" - his usual baby, "cow" (that is really a bear), and monkey, and his new Woody.

Also tired after a long day.

And here's the Sleeping Princess.
